Assistive Technology is any thing or any tool that can make life easier and increase independence for people with disabilities. It includes a wide range of tools. From simple magnifiers to complex computers, assistive technology can make a world of difference.
  • This 13 minute Screen Reader Demo (opens new window) will be reviewed in class, however we may not have time for all of it. Watch this video or listen to the attached podcast for more information on how a person who is blind or low vision accesses websites using a screen reader (for example JAWS).

Create journalism content using Universal Design which will be accessible in all formats including digital audio, video, and print media, and web content. Articulate the disability perspective through integrated learning opportunities applicable to the field of journalism. Identify the principles and practices of pertinent legislation and standard Web guidelines. Demonstrate the appropriate professionalism.
