Checklist

Complete the Module 4: Assistive Technologies checklist to make sure you’ve completed all of the required and additional/optional tasks.

Before Class

  1. Required Readings
    The required reading for Module 4 has you review the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario website – you can also listen to it using the listen button.
  2. Additional Readings
    The additional or optional reading is provided to support further learning on assistive technology tools that go a long way to support students who struggle with language and learning. This reading is not required of you; however it may help your participation in class, as well as your research for interviews or content development.
  3. Required Watching
    Students are required to watch this 6 minute video on Assistive Technology before coming to class.
  4. Optional Watching
    There are no optional videos for this week; however there are videos to watch in this week’s online Module: Blind / Low Vision.
  5. Attend
    Each week the PowerPoint being presented in class will be provided in advance for your consideration and support your note taking efforts. The PowerPoint does not provide all of the information, notes will be required of each student. Participation in class activities will support learning and understanding, please make sure you attend all classes.

After Class

  1. Module: Blind/Low Vision
    Complete the Module: Blind/Low Vision. This online module will give you a more in depth understanding of these disability sub-types. Students are responsible for completing the module, taking and completing the quiz and participating in one of the group discussions. The QUIZ and the DISCUSSIONS will be graded.

Create journalism content using Universal Design which will be accessible in all formats including digital audio, video, and print media, and web content. Articulate the disability perspective through integrated learning opportunities applicable to the field of journalism. Identify the principles and practices of pertinent legislation and standard Web guidelines. Demonstrate the appropriate professionalism.
